ABSTRACT: This study explored the role of early childhood education in teaching media literacy to young children. Objectives included assessing media literacy levels, identifying effective educational practices, and evaluating the long-term benefits of early media literacy education. A survey design was employed due to its ability to collect comprehensive data from a diverse population. Purposive sampling was used to select 220 children from preschools in Ogun State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children who received media literacy education had a better understanding of media content and critical thinking skills, with activities like guided media viewing, discussions on media messages, and interactive media projects being particularly effective. The study recommended integrating media literacy education into early childhood programs to develop critical media consumption skills from an early age.
